Job Description

The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno, seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in rhetoric and composition, with a focus on writing program administration, at the rank of associate professor. The person hired would direct the Core Writing Program beginning July 1, 2018. The Director of Core Writing oversees first-year writing courses and articulates the program with the University’s Core Curriculum and Writing Initiatives. We are looking for an advanced scholar who will collaborate with other faculty to assess and enhance the program. Duties include supporting and supervising Core Writing instructors, advising MA and PhD students, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. There is a reduced teaching load of 1-1 and additional salary compensation for the term of service as Core Writing Director.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in rhetoric, composition studies, or a related field and must demonstrate a record of high quality teaching and a program of peer-reviewed research publication in the field of writing program administration or a related field that warrants appointment at the rank of associate professor. The successful candidate must also have an institutional record of writing program administration.
