Job Description

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral scholar to investigate the neural basis of visually-guided prey capture behavior in the mouse. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Hoy at the Department of Biology, University of Nevada, Reno. The lab is part of the Center for Integrative Neuroscience at UNR which provides the candidate with ample opportunity to participate in highly collaborative work that spans molecular biology in model organisms to human psychophysics. The successful candidate can expect the opportunity to synthesize existing expertise with training in optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches in mice as well as acquire skills in advanced behavioral analysis and extracellular electrophysiology. The position is fully funded for one year and may be renewable contingent on funding and application for external support.

Required Qualifications
  • Holds a PhD degree in Psychology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • At least one published paper in one of the above fields
Preferred Qualifications

Some of the following experience is desirable, but not required:

  • Experience with visual physiology experiments
  • Experience with rodent behavioral experiments
  • Experience with advanced genetic techniques or viral delivery methods (AAV or lentivirus)
  • Experience with programming, advanced data analysis, and/or surgeries in laboratory animals
