Job Description

The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks a 12-month, full-time lecturer with expertise in psychology to teach at the undergraduate level and to serve as a department undergraduate advisor. This is a continuing, state-appropriated, non-tenure track position.

This lecturer will coordinate with department advisors to advise incoming, transfer and continuing undergraduates on all major, minor, and general academic requirements; track student retention and progress toward degree completion; address questions that Psychology students may have about careers, study abroad, undergraduate research, and other experiential learning opportunities; work with faculty to assess student outcomes and foster student success; and develop and teach undergraduate psychology courses (e.g., introductory psychology).

The University of Nevada, Reno, the land-grant University and major research institution in the state, has a student body of approximately 21,000. The University is situated in Reno, a metropolitan area of 450,000, on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The city is conveniently located 38 miles from Lake Tahoe, a world-class skiing area with limitless summer and winter recreational opportunities. Sacramento and San Francisco are two and four hour drives away respectively.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Psychology with advising and teaching experience
