Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno Orvis School of Nursing invites applicants to apply for one full-time 9-month tenure track or non-tenure track position with the rank of assistant professor and preference for Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner beginning Fall 2018. Responsibilities include teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs according to educational preparation, expertise and school needs, and scholarship and service for tenure track. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and education.

The Orvis School of Nursing offers an entry-level BSN program, an online RN to BSN program; BSN to DNP and MSN programs, with Psych/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner; MSN also include tracks for Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Leader; and a post-master’s DNP program. The Orvis School of Nursing provides numerous opportunities for collaborative teaching, research and services with other disciplines in the University.

Reno is on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and is recognized as a world class outdoor recreational area. It is 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe and 4 hours from San Francisco. Several famous winter resorts and hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails surround the area. Yosemite National Park, the Black Rock Desert, Sacramento and Napa/Sonoma are all within driving distance. The Reno metropolitan area has a population of 425,000, and is served by an international airport.

Required Qualifications

Non-tenure appointment- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with Master’s degree in nursing or related field.

Tenure Track- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing and research focused doctoral degree (PhD or DNSc) in nursing or related field

Additionally, Registered nurse licensed in the state of Nevada or eligible for licensure in Nevada and hold national certification as a PMHNP.

Tenure track positions also require being actively engaged in research.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience and defined research focus. Preference for Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (national certification).
