Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Emergency Response Laboratory Manager who is responsible for the preparation and analysis of clinical and/or environmental samples submitted for analysis for agents of chemical or biological terrorism as well as emergent infectious diseases. The Manager will provide seminars, training sessions, presentations and/or workshops to public health partners, first responders, educational entities and special interest groups. The Manager is also responsible for the coordination of departmental functions, identification, preparation and submission of environmental, public health emergency preparedness and biomonitoring related grants to enhance work performed at the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory. The Manager will be responsible for the completion and submission of grant required reports as assigned. Participation in a 24/7 On-Call rotation may be required.

Required Qualifications

PhD and one year of related work experience.

Relevant Experience:
• Complex Chemical/Biological Instrumentation Operations and Troubleshooting
• Supervisory experience
• Grant writing and administration
• Public Speaking and Training

Nevada Clinical Laboratory Scientist or General Supervisor Certificate; or ability to obtain such certification within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Microbiology, molecular biology and/or chemical testing/instrumentation experience; preferably using LRN methods.
