Job Description

The Events and Protocol division within the Advancement and Engagement department at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine has an opening for a highly motivated, creative, and resourceful student to provide general event assistance.
The Student Worker will maintain inventory, scan and file, and enter expenses into excel budget worksheets and assist the department with specific event needs. The candidate should have the ability to work independently, as well as in a group, and must take initiative to accomplish tasks. The candidate should also demonstrate customer support experience, including strong phone contact handling skills and active listening. On event days, the position may assist with the set-up, implementation and takedown of events and other miscellaneous day-of-event duties.

Required Qualifications

• Problem solving and attention to detail;
• Strong client satisfaction and results orientation;
• Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and email);
• Work effectively with a diverse group of community partners, faculty, staff, administrators, students as well as the general public;
• Work collaboratively with partners, staff, administrators and external communities;
• Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
This position is categorized as medium work: exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Medium work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling.
