Job Description

The College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a full-time tenure track professor of P-12 Educational Leadership at the Assistant Professor level to begin July 1, 2018.

The selected individual will teach master’s and doctoral courses in P-12 Educational Leadership, conduct an active research and publication program, provide advising support to graduate students, supervise doctoral dissertations, and provide service for the Educational Leadership Program, the college, university, and the profession.

The selected individual will support the Nevada Leads, principal preparation collaborative, https://www.unr.edu/degrees/educational-leadership/med, which serves approximately 25 graduate students/aspiring principals through a cohort model.
About the Reno/Tahoe Area:
The Reno/Tahoe area is recognized as a world-class recreation area. Within a one-hour drive of Reno are 15 skiing and snowboarding resorts, Lake Tahoe, hundreds of mountain biking and hiking trails, including the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail. The Truckee River, which runs from the California state line through downtown Reno, features one of country’s top outdoor whitewater kayak parks. Additional areas of interest include the Black Rock Desert, Sacramento, Yosemite National Park, Napa/Sonoma, and the San Francisco Bay Area. During the next five years projections indicate the Reno area will have more than 50,000 new high-tech, professional jobs.

Required Qualifications

An earned doctorate in P-12 Educational Leadership or closely related field is required by August 2018. Candidates must show productivity or potential for national prominence through research in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates must additionally possess the ability to teach or co-teach graduate courses in person or online related to P-12 Educational Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants who have demonstrated an ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, successful grant activity experience, successful university teaching, and public school education teaching or leadership experience.
