ASUN Department of Clubs and Organizations

The Club Commissioners of the ASUN Department of Clubs and Organizations act as representatives to the respective coalition(s) to which they are assigned, working to implement the goals and objectives of the department within the organizations and clubs falling under their purview. They attempt to contact each organization prior to the beginning of the Fall Semester, attend at least one (1) meeting or activity of each organization within their respective coalitions by the third Club Support Funding Hearing, comply with club officer requests for a meeting within one week of the request, and meet with any new organization, within their prospective coalition, requesting recognition by ASUN.

Each commissioner may be delegated any of the following areas of emphasis at the discretion of the Director:

Sports and Recreation

This ASUN Student Leader position is an elected member of the student government. By applying for this position, you are considered a candidate for the position and must meet the requirements of eligibility for the office for which they are running as stated in the ASUN Constitution and the ASUN Statutes of the Associated Students. Applying for this position does not automatically employ you into this position and the candidate must partake in being interviewed by peers and to be appointed by the ASUN Senate to this position. Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN)

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels.

The administrative faculty in the Center for Student Engagement support and challenge the elected and appointed Student Officers. ASUN and the Center for Student Engagement nurtures a culture for appointed and elected student leaders that foster learning outside of the academic classroom by creating an educational environment that connects the campus community to the importance of processes that lead to student self-governance and civic engagement.

All Elected or Appointed student leaders are under the advisement of the administrative faculty in the Center for Student Engagement.

Due to the electing and appointing process of ASUN, additional steps, interviews, or information maybe requested accordance to the Constitution and/or Statues of the Associated Students.

ASUN Center for Student Engagement Student Officer Learning Outcomes:
Through involvement within ASUN and the Center for Student Engagement, students will be better prepared to:

Cognitive Complexity:
1. The Student Officer can diagnose problems, generate and choose between multiple solutions, and evaluate outcomes.
2. The Student Officer can transform information into knowledge, use the knowledge to make a judgment, and then make purposeful actions.

Interpersonal Competence:
3. The Student Officer can develop an understanding of group dynamics and effective teamwork.

Humanitarianism and Civic Engagement:
4. The Student Officer can recognize the importance of and actively seek contributions from those with differing perspectives.
5. The Student Officer can explain how government functions and interacts with constituents.

Knowledge Acquisition, Construction, Integration, and Application:
6. The Student Officer understand the importance of and work to develop professional relationships with constituents, staff, faculty, peers, etc.

Interpersonal Development:
7. The Student Officer can gather and analyze information in order to formulate opinions on issues that affect my constituents.

Practical Competence:
8. The Student Officer can understand and apply rules and protocols set forth in all governing documents.

Required Qualifications

ASUN Student Leader Agreement
During my tenure of this appointed position, I agree to adhere to the following guidelines:

1) Maintain a 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits

2) Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents

3) Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct

4) Meet all deadlines set forth

5) Attend all required meetings and trainings

6) Work scheduled hours

7) Properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time

8) Assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada

9) Behave in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity

10) Other duties as called upon by my position

I understand not adhering to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and/or the University of Nevada.
