Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno, (UNR) School of Social Work (SSW) invites applications for a Program Coordinator, Field Education non-tenure track position beginning October 1, 2017.
The Program Coordinator for Field Education is one of three Program Coordinators in the School of Social Work (SSW) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). Along with the Coordinators for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, the Field Education Program Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership to the faculty primarily assigned to each program, identifying curriculum issues, and managing the accreditation process. The Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership in integrating field curriculum into the BSW and MSW programs, recruitment, selection, and training of community field instructors, and placement of BSW and MSW students in field sites. The incumbent is responsible for Agency-School field contract negotiations, building strong, positive relationships between SSW and professional social workers and community agencies, database maintenance, staff supervision, and representing the SSW in all matters pertaining to field education. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for serving on graduate comprehensive examination committees, assisting with recruitment and admissions of undergraduate and graduate students, and serving as a faculty liaison/field seminar leader.

The ideal candidate will have a record of involvement in social work field education, some experience in teaching, a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity and highly developed communication skills with the ability to relate to a diverse student body.

The School of Social Work is part of the University’s Division of Health Sciences. UNR is the State of Nevada’s land grant and historic land grant institution of higher education and is one of eight institutions of higher education governed by the Nevada System of Higher Education. UNR has a growing and increasingly diverse student enrollment of over 20,000, with degree programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. Required Qualifications

A Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program and three years of related professional experience or a Doctoral Degree and one year of related professional experience. Related Experience: Post-BSW or Post -MSW professional social work practice to include two years in college teaching and/or field program administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification and Licensure: State of Nevada -License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) OR Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) OR Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
-Working with social work education programs, an understanding of the Council on Social Work Accreditation field education standards, and a basic understanding of BSW and MSW curricula.
-A documented ability to work as an effective team member and present a broad perspective on social work education that transcends geographical borders.
