Job Description

The Senior Information Security Engineer (SISE), functionally reporting to the Chair of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), will oversee the management and operations of the Full Spectrum Cybersecurity Zone while promoting and enhancing the mission of “research, education, and service” in the CSE department. The Full Spectrum Cybersecurity Zone (Zone) is a dedicated classroom and lab space for students to engage in the operational aspects of cybersecurity and provide a teaching and collaborative environment for cybersecurity education and training. The SISE is responsible for the design and development of the Zone to include administrating the physical and virtual infrastructure, suggesting and responding to cybersecurity classroom needs, mentoring students, organizing and overseeing student team exercises and cyber challenges, and promoting Zone activities and events. The incumbent collaborates with industry partners to secure funding and develop workshops; assesses vulnerabilities and threats with the goal of providing real world experience to students; and proposes, develops and teaches cybersecurity workshops and courses.

The new engineering building provides both additional space critically needed by the College and the modern facilities capable of supporting high-tech research and laboratory space. This building will allow the College to pursue its strategic vision, serve Nevada and the nation, and educate future generations of engineering professionals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and four years professional experience, or Master’s degree and two years of professional experience.

Related Experience: cybersecurity administration, regulatory environments, incident management, and vulnerability assessments; systems administration; penetration testing

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of: software and hardware design and development; server administration and Linux-based systems; firewalls and intrusion detection systems; computer and network forensics.
