Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Community Health Sciences is seeking a candidate for a nine-month, tenured track position in Kinesiology at the rank of Assistant Professor. The School offers a PhD in Epidemiology and Social and Behavioral Health, as well as, MPH in Epidemiology, Social-Behavioral Health, and Health Policy and Administration and BS in Community Health Sciences (CHS), with a plan to develop into a School of Public Health. The BS in CHS has two areas of specialization, Public Health and Kinesiology. Currently there are over 1,800 undergraduate majors, with the majority of the incoming students declaring the Kinesiology specialization. Research and teaching interests should be in the area of Kinesiology. Preference will be given to applicants with practical application and whose research includes many aspects of Kinesiology such as, but not limited to, Physical Education Pedagogy, Introduction to Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition, Motor Learning, Motor Control and Motor Development, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, Clinical Exercise Physiology, and Pathophysiology. The successful applicant is expected to engage in both independent and collaborative research projects, teach successfully in the graduate and undergraduate programs and engage in the development of the new School of Public Health.

Required Qualifications

PhD. in Kinesiology or related areas by 07/01/ 2018.

Evidence of scholarly activities or promising areas of research in the field of kinesiology, including but not limited to, clinical aspects of exercise physiology, applications of physical activity across diverse populations, pedagogy, or human performance research.
