Job Description

The Director, Graduate Medical Education (GME) is accountable for the overall administration of the GME Office and the oversight of institutional and program accreditation. The individual reports to the Associate Dean, GME and works with the Associate Dean to coordinate and manage all Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program reviews including development, organization and support of all training programs in the context of the ACGME’s Next Accreditation System. The Director analyzes performance data collected from a variety of sources, develops strategic plans for the institution’s GME mission, makes formal recommendations for improvement, assists with policy development and implementation of procedures, and oversees allocated resident FTE’s and duty hour tracking for institutional reimbursement. This position works closely with hospital partners for GME program management and ACGME Clinical Learning Environment Reviews. Additionally, the Director of GME supervises the office administrative staff and has oversight of program directors and coordinators.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree: 4 years of related professional work experience

Master’s Degree: 2 years of related professional work experience
Relevant Experience:
graduate medical education, accreditation, fiscal management, program management, upper level administration; at least one year of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills – research issues/situations, develop and provide solutions, make appropriate decisions, and implement solutions; bring concerns to management
• Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, critical thinking, strategic thinking and networking skills (ability to think strategically)
• Demonstrated business acumen skills and ability to implement business plans
• Relevant professional experience including project and staff management, preferably in an academic or health care setting
• Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Interpersonal and human relations skills
• Time management skills for managing multiple tasks simultaneously, achieving results and objectives, and completing work within allocated time frames
